Production process

Step 1

CREATIVE THINKING

I always begin by defining and designing the tactile qualities of the 3D-printed textile through research and the analysis of fabrics, techniques, surfaces, and materials. I'm interested in understanding how they feel, behave, and interact before translating them into a printed textile.

Step 2

TESTING

Experimentation is a crucial part of my process. It's where my ideas are translated into samples through continuous testing until the desired performance is achieved.

Step 3

DESIGN & PATTERN

Rather than imposing a shape, I design each piece around the properties of the textile. Since there is no cutting process after printing, each pattern is digitalised and adapted to the technical constraints of the 3D printer, allowing me to personalise each piece when necessary.

Step 4

PRINT PREP.

It's the step where I put the most effort, as it determines the quality and consistency of the print. I select the appropriate filament, build plate, and printing parameters to achieve the desired behaviour of the textile.

Step 5

3D

Each component is printed layer by layer, using only the material that is needed without producing waste. Once the print is complete, I carefully consider how I remove it from the build plate, as this can influence the texture and appearance of the textile.

Step 6

ASSEMBLY

I like to treat the 3D-printed textile as if it were a regular fabric. It is my way of bringing digital manufacturing closer to traditional textile making.
